ORLANDO ADAPTIVE JUDO is a program designed for neurodivergent students and offered by the ORLANDO KODOKAN JUDO club. We are members of USA JUDO, the national governing body for Judo in the United States and a member of the U.S. OLYMPIC and PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE. The club is also a member of the United States Judo Federation (USJF).
Why Judo?
Judo is often called “the gentle way,” focusing on control, respect, and discipline rather than aggression. For children with autism, these principles provide unique opportunities for growth. Through Judo, children build coordination, improve social interactions, and develop confidence—all while learning in a structured and supportive environment.
Research-Driven Impact
The Orlando Adaptive Judo program was inspired by studies like this one from the University of Central Florida, which demonstrated Judo’s effectiveness in helping children with autism improve physical and social skills.
Community and Connection
Our classes foster inclusion and teamwork, creating a space where every student feels supported. To see the joy and progress in action, visit our Facebook page for pictures, updates, and announcements!
